Dr. Kovalchik, Physician, is Director of Davita Healthcare Kidney Center, Torrington, Connecticut; Chairman, Ethics Committee, and Past President of the medical Staff of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington, Connecticut.
Dr. Kovalchik, 65, was elected to the Board of Directors of ICU Medical, Inc. in 1989 and serves as Lead Director, Chairman of the Compensation Committee, and a member of the Nominating/Corporate Governance Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors (and its Compensation Committee) of Aplicare, a privately held company. He has extensive compensation committee leadership experience.
ICU Medical has made a number of significant acquisitions over the years. In addition to serving as Lead Director on the ICU board and the board of Aplicare he is a member of NACD. Aplicare, based in Meriden, CT, was acquired by Clorox in the week prior to the NACD Forum. In addition to his board duties and Nephrology practice he also serves as a mediator to assist in resolving health care and ethical conflicts.
Dr. Kovalchik earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his M.D. degree from Emory University. He continued postgraduate training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the New Charing Cross Hospital London, England.
